The Most Important Thing to Amos Tallbear

As a child, I was beaten, burned, kicked, and told, "if it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t be in this mess". I learned of Christ via the church my mother sent us to to get us out of the house. That’s where I was introduced to Jesus Christ. I would walk many miles through drug addiction, alcoholism, neglect, child abuse, suicide to finally met Christ. I was scared to death, I wanted to die.

I accepted Christ at my first Falls Creek camp back in '89. I remember what happened. I remember Him calling me. I knew all the pain and suffering would be taken care of. I wanted so desperately to be a good, better person. Christ told me I would be a new creation; the old gone. I was moved. I chose after leaving Falls Creek to not follow the calling laid upon me that night. I chose the world. But this time I had a conscience – The Holy Spirit.

Eighteen years later the Holy Spirit convicted me. I was given the strength, courage, the willingness to stand up and follow. I had to swallow my pride again, even after being saved. I was told after the Holy Spirit convicted me to preach once again to be a blank check, to be ready, and willing to do whatever the Lord calls you to do. I have been blessed to finally preach for the Lord and share Christ’s message for the first time since that responsibility was placed upon me. I am on a mission for Christ.
