I grew up in the buckle of the Bible Belt and church was a large part of our family life. Our family did not have religion but a relationship with Jesus Christ. Like many others who were reared in a Christian home and church, I never remember a time when I did not love Jesus. Everything I knew about Him drew me to Him. But unlike my family I knew about Jesus, His love, and His forgiveness but I did not have a personal relationship with Him.
I remember vividly the moment the story of Christ, His love, and His death on the cross became real to me. He did not just die to forgive others but He died to forgive me. He did not want me to know about Him but to know Him. I chose to seek a personal relatiohship with Jesus through faith and forgiveness. Immediately, I had a friend who filled my life with peace, love and joy. I no longer had religion but a relationship with the God of the universe through Jesus Christ.
Jesus become my forever friend many years ago. He has been with me through every moment of life. When things were good, He multiplied my joy. When life was difficult, He carried my burdens and gave me peace in the storm. I live every day with the assurance that when I die I will spend eternity in heaven with Him. My heart's desire is that every person can have such a hope in this life and the life to come.
