When I was 8 years old, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. However, it took almost two decades for me to experience a consistent, daily walk with Him. Because I didn't truly know and experience a relationship with Him during this time, I found myself in the worldly rat-race. I set very high goals for myself, only to find that once I achieved each one, happiness and fulfillment still eluded me.
When I truly met Jesus I was on my knees. I was literally lying flat on the floor, sobbing in a hotel room in New York City. But for the awesome grace of God and His love, expressed through my Christian husband, my time on earth would have ended that night by my own hand. Although I was closer than I had ever been to "making it" by the world's standards, I was the farthest I've ever been from feeling joy, contentment, or any sort of purpose.
Once I truly opened my heart and my mind to knowing Jesus, to learning about Him, to studying God's powerful Word, I can honestly say I'm a new creation. Of course I still fall, I'm not going to be perfect and holy for as long as I'm still here in this world. However, I now have a joy, a contentment, an eternal hope and a purpose. I truly have a friend in Jesus Christ. My prayer is that I can extend this hand of friendship and love to others.
