I grew up as a preacher's kid. I don't remember not being aroud a church. I do remember being in our living room in Tribune, KS when I was 9 and accepting the Lord with my father guiding me. I have never doubted my salvation since. Being a preacher's kid can cause lots of challenges. I saw the ugly side of church politics from the inside.
When I was a freshman in college my parents divorced. I still don't know the real reason. That was 25 years ago. It caused me to doubt my need for church; NOT CHRIST, just church. I attended sporadically for 5 or so years then didn't for 15. During that time, I had a lot of battles to fight, but always trusted God to put me in the right place. When my wife and daugher and I moved to Mason, God finally got my attention.
Our moving money was getting tight and I took a job at a hotel just to make ends meet. But I could tell that wasn't where God wanted me to be. I was about to head down the wrong path, but God corrected my course. I found the right job, and not long after, we started attending Last Chance. God put me there to use the talents he gave me that I had been wasting. I'm the music director and the blessings haven't stopped. It's never too late to get back into the FAMILY of GOD!!
