I grew up in a "Christian" family. My father had been Mennonite and knew Christ. My mother was a member of a works orientated denomination. I knew if I did more good things than bad in the end I would get into Heaven. I taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and counseled at church summer camp. I did make some mistakes, but I tried to make up for the sin by doing extra good things. I did not know for certain that I would make Heaven but knew I was a good person.
When I was attending OU, I went to a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting. Dave Hannah said God loves us and has a wonderful plan for our lives. But that man is sinful and separated from God, thus he can not know and experience God’s plan for his life. Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for man’s sin. We must receive Jesus Christ as Savior by personal invitation. I asked God to forgive me for all the sins I had committed and asked Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life.
Since then I found a godly girl to marry. We had a son who has turned into a godly man with his own godly wife. I attended a seminary after I obtained my 4 year college degree but never went into “full time” Christian work. I had a full time job where I was able to present a Christian witness. I worked with boys mission organizations in local churches, drove church buses, and sang in choirs. I have now retired from my job and open for any ministry that God will show me.
