The Most Important Thing to Jenny Ouzts

I was brought up in church. At age 10 I felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit and I knew I wanted to be saved. The preacher gave the altar call, I was so afraid, but I made the move and asked Jesus to be my Savior. After I was saved I still went to church, read my Sunday school lesson, and sang at church, but I was not taught the Word so I could grow as a Christian. I knew if I died I would go to heaven but not much more.

That year my parents divorced, at age 13 we moved to another town. I was like any other teenager hanging out with friends. At 19 I got married. We didn't go to church. My mother, who was a godly, praying woman, would invite us, but we would rather go to the lake or ride our motorcycle. She was such an example of God's love and patience. In June 1981 our lives changed. I didn't know my husband was watching Christian TV and he didn’t know I was praying and reading my Bible.

On June 21, 1981, that night in bed my husband asked if I knew how to pray to be saved. I said yes. We knelt beside our bed and asked Jesus to forgive us of our sin and be Lord of our life. There was such a peace in the room. Even though I had been saved, I truly committed my life to serve Jesus. We were both totally changed and had such a hunger for God's Word and to share it with others.
