The Most Important Thing to Jim Griffin

Even though I was born into an evangelical Christian family, I got into problems as a youngster - bad language, fights at school, bad attitude. I was unhappy, and didn't realize why. Perhaps I thought I had something to prove because I was so much smaller than most of my classmates.
Through a simple illustration I realized that what I'd been taught in church about how to be cleaned up from all the bad stuff in my life was something I needed. Red colored liquid was poured into a glass with black liquid in it, and it turned clear! The black was me - dirty because of things in my life that were against God. The red was the blood of Jesus. The blood he shed when he died on the cross could take away my blackness, dirtiness and the sin that separated me from God.
My life hasn't been perfect since I accepted the free gift of salvation and began a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I mess up every day - some days worse than others. But, now I know my life has meaning and purpose, and after I die everything will be perfect because I'll go to heaven and be with God and Jesus forever! I read my Bible every day, and try to spend time in prayer. That's how I know more about God and how He wants me to live my life.
