The Most Important Thing to Lorne Bartlett

Before I knew Christ, I thought I controlled my life, destination, and direction for my family. Problem was that I really had very little control on any of these things. I'd wake up every morning feeling like Ground Hog Day. The same things would happen over and over. I had no real meaning and no real direction. I was just going through the motions everyday. I didn’t realize that there was a higher power.

One evening at our home, a pastor and his wife at the nearby Missionary Baptist Church came for a visit. They had been inviting us to church. We had attended a couple of times. My wife and I could feel a difference even before they came over that evening. I believe the Holy Spirit was already at work. During their visit they asked if we would like to have eternal life. My wife and I accepted Christ right there in our living room.

Ever since that evening when we accepted Christ, I don't have to try to control our lives. I know who is in real control. I know that no matter how bad I mess up, I am forgiven, the price has been paid. I wake up with a peace, ready for the world each day and our family life is better. I know where my final destination will be no matter what I do. Since that day our kids have accepted Christ. I am so thankful for what God has done for me and my family.
