The Most Important Thing to Marie Harris

Abandoned, unloved. That is how I felt when I was following my own way. I thought if only I was smart, pretty or had an outstanding talent I would be fulfilled as a person. My life would be worthy. I would have a place in this world and be loved and recognized. There was a deep void inside me and I was also afraid of what would happen to me when I die.
I had gone to church a few times growing up and knew God existed. I thought I was a pretty good person and assumed I would go to heaven. One day, someone told me about God and the sacrifice that was made on my behalf. I realized I was not following God’s ways and I lacked what it takes to go to heaven and have eternal life.
Loved, fulfilled, comforted. That is how I feel now. The emptiness in my soul has been filled and I know God loves me because of the cross. This is the most important thing that has ever happened to me. Even during hard times, the questions, and the uncertainties of life, God has given me peace because I am now a follower of Christ.
