The Most Important Thing to Steve Buchanan

In 1953 my father left our home leaving my mother with 3 children. I didn't have the companionship of a father. No fishing, hunting, playing ball, working on cars or simply talking about stuff. Four years later a man asked about my relationship with my father. I said I didn't know him since he left us when I was 5. I never understood what it meant to have a father and I didn't know what a father-son relationship was like.
He told me that even though I didn't have a relationship with my earthly father I could have a personal relationship with my heavenly father. He told me about God's son Jesus and how he came to this earth to die for my sins. All I had to do was confess my sins and believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and I would be saved. Even a 9 year old could understand that. He said I would have a personal relationship with God forever. I'd never be without a father again.
My mother remarried when I was 10. I have been blessed with the most amazing relationships I could hope for. God is so good. Thirteen years ago my paternal father called and apologized for his mistakes. I really believe that God brought him back into my life just so I could get to know him. I went from not having a father-son relationship to having 3 father-son relationships. I consider my relationship with God as the most important decision I have ever made. Won't you consider starting your own relationship with God?
